A lyrical journey through Isaiah chapter 6!

The track that made me fall in love with Sho Baraka’s ministry. Lets take a walk through Isaiah 6 where the prophet Isaiah has a vision and sees the Lord of all. This is what takes place.

[Isaiah 6]
For Whole earth is full of his glory
And the foundations of the threshold tremble
At the voice of him who called out
While the temple is filled with smoke
I said to myself Woe is me
For I am ruined
Because I’m a man with unclean lips
And I live amongst a people with unclean lips
For my eyes have seen the king, the Lord of Hosts
Then one seraphim flew to me
With burning coals in his hand
He touched me on my lips
Said my iniquity is taken away, and my sins forgiven
Then I heard the voice of the Lord say
Who shall I send?
Who will go for us
Then I said
Here I am, Send Me

[Verse One]
Cast down my crown to worship you in spirit and truth
As I see You on the throne, I see Your train fills the roof
I’m on bended knees, hands extended closed eyes
Holy, Holy, Holy is Lord the Most High
Woe is me, I’m a man with unclean lips
And I live amongst a people whose on the same trip
That when one Seraphim flew to me with coal in his hands
He touch me on my lips, said I was a brand new man
As the foundation shook He’s asking, who shall He send
I said, “Send me Lord, I commit to faithful men”
Sometimes Lord, I feel like I don’t give you enough
The kind of pure joy to persevere when times get tough
So I keep a concentrated relationship fixed on you
I keep my eyes to the hills so I can have a right view
I stand in awe of You
How You measured the earth with the palm of Your hand
and yet, and still you want to be friends with such an unclean man
So like John I fall prostrate on this island of life
I worship You, recognizing you are power and might
Glory and light, eternal in sight, blameless and right
Creator of life, thief in the night, Jesus the Christ

[Chorus]
I see the Lord, seated on the throne, exalted
And the train of His robe, fills the temple with glory
And the whole earth is filled, and the whole earth is filled
And the whole earth is filled, with His glory

[Verse Two]
The sun suspends in the air
I can feel Your winds everywhere
You care to the grains of my hair
Divine works all around me
I can’t get past the evidence
The fact that your invisible, to me, is irrelevant
I know your heaven sent, straight to the virgin birth
Gave me a second chance even after man’s curse
A third, a fourth, a fifth, and a sixth
You wore my crown of thorns, you took my licks as they spit
In ya face, off the cross a sinner you embraced
Now I understand whats the meaning of grace
I war against the flesh, can’t wait till the day that you come
Cause everday I’m rewriting Psalm 51
From the weak to the dumb
You make us shine like Pearls
Got a new engagement, broke up with that girl named world
The relationship was unfruitful, I was Satan’s pupil
They told me you was an unfair God, I believed those lies
I know the truth now, cuz you’ve been fair since creation
Man fell, and then you gave man emancipation
I know the saying one sin can make man fall
But with one drop of blood, he can save us all
I’m a living sacrifice, I lay my life upon the altar
I pray to have faith that don’t forsake you, like a martyr
I have a desire, thats to know you more
I have no choice to live holy cuz I see the Lord

[Chorus]

In which Christ do you believe?

This week is the second part of the mini series I started last week within LTT. Last week we looked at the death and crucifixion of Jesus. Last week was like my “Good Friday” post. This week we will be my easter day post. Since we looked at the death of Jesus last week, this week we will look at the resurrection. I have taken a slightly different approach though. This view on the resurrection will be more of a focus on the controversy surrounding the resurrection in our modern day.

Da T.R.U.T.H. is a truly gifted and talented artist. He has had 4 albums released to date on Cross Movement Records. This is a guy who has genuinely touched my life through his music. This particular song is off of his sophomore release entitled “The Faith”. At a time when the largely popular book “The Da Vinci Code” was released and causing much confusion and controversy, Da T.R.U.T.H. released this song answering the critics. But at the backbone of this song you find a very serious question for us all to ask ourselves: In which Christ do we believe in?

Verse 1

Was Christ really buried—is there a chance
That He really married Mary and fled over to France
Did they really find His bones with a fine tooth comb
Or did He walk out of His tomb to His throne
Was He God—was He not
Was He alive when they dropped Him in a tomb
Did He swoon—was He moved
Was He removed by delusional dudes that refused to believe in the truth
Were they fools
Were the disciples hallucinating was the truth evaded
‘Cause they wanted to boost His ratings
Did the Catholic church from the Vatican
Work at keeping the bag of dirt under the rug
Was he God from above
If He was do you blink, do you shrug, do you hate do you love (2X)

Hook

Christ on the poster
Christ of the culture
Christ on the stain glass
Christ of the future
Christ on the video
Christ on the radio
The Christ of Da Vinci
What does he really know
Christ on award shows
Christ that Lord knows
Christ that’s sure to come back in His war clothes
In which Christ do you believe
You gotta know before you leave

Verse 2

Yes he did arrive, yes He was alive
No—he wasn’t married never had any wives
Yes—He did rise, days after He died
What can I say—yes He is God!
From the womb to the tomb
To His throne nobody in Rome could hold on to His bones
‘Cause there were no bones to be held though His bones were beheld
Who would have known
It was Jehov on the DL, providing forgiveness
Our lives are offensive
He died to put you and I in a friendship with himself
Pain is felt
When the glorious gospel is exchanged for wealth
Forget about how the spades were dealt
And think about how you measure up when weighed on the scale
One Lord
One faith I plug
One Lord
One Christ, one judge

Hook

And forever will I tell, in 3 hours Christ suffered more than any sinner ever will in hell!

This marks the first of two very important LTT’s. We are approaching the famous weekend where we remember and reflect on the passion of Jesus. Or in other words, the time in Jesus’ life where all His ministry and work would come together and He would finish it all by going to the cross, dieing for our sins. Taking upon Himself the wrath due to us. Literally experiencing hell on the cross for us. And then after taking all this for us, He rose again on the third day, defeating death and proving that He actually is the Son of God. The Most High. The Alpha and Omega and the Beginning and the End. Good Friday marks the day when Jesus suffered this great penalty on our behalf. And easter Sunday, marks the day when He rose again. This week I want to focus on the death of Jesus. And next week, we will focus on the resurrection of Jesus.

Shai Linne’s album “The Atonement” is a masterpiece. This is a song off that album. Imagine your there. Imagine you are watching the events of that day. The day when the God of the universe was killed at the hands of roman fools. He could have called down legions of angels, but He was too faithful. Let’s take time to meditate of what Christ was doing on that day.

Verse 1

There’s something you gotta see, journey with me
It’s approximately 30 A.D.
In the land of Israel- the city of Jerusalem
But on the outside there’s screams and loud cries
Through faith, this scene can be seen without eyes
The mean shout lies and seem to sound wise
As we inch through the crowd, we need to be cautious
A Roman execution, men on three crosses
But all the focus is on the one in the center
The gate closes behind you- no one can enter
The sight you behold is so odd, you’re stunned
The man hanging on the cross is God the Son
12 noon, it’s pitch-black because the sunshine’s lacking
Your minds can’t fathom this divine transaction
As slowly the sound becomes mostly drowned
You realize that you’re standing on holy ground

Bridge

So forever will I tell
In three hours, Christ suffered more than any sinner ever will in hell (4x)

Chorus

It’s where we see Your holiness- at the cross
We see that You’re controlling this- at the cross
We see how You feel about sin- at the cross
Your unfathomable love for men- at the cross
It’s where we see Your sovereignty- at the cross
We see our idolatry- at the cross
We know that there’s a judgment day- from the cross
May we never take our eyes away- from the cross

Verse 2

We’re now in the realm of the sublime and profound
With God at the helm it’s about to go down
The Father’s wrath precise will blast and slice
The priceless Master Christ as a sacrifice
Willingly, He’s under the curse
To be treated as if the Son was the worst scum of the earth
The scene is the craziest
Jesus being treated as if He is the shadiest atheist
How is it the Messiah is in the fiery pit
As if He was a wicked liar with twisted desires?
The One who’s sinless and just
Punished as if He was promiscuous and mischievous with vicious lust
The source of all godly pleasure
Tormented as if He was a foul investor or child molestor
How could He be bruised like He was a goodie two-shoes
who doesn’t think that she needs the good news?
He’s perfect in love and wisdom
But He’s suffering as if He constructed the corrupt justice system
We should mourn at the backdrop
Jesus torn like He’s on the corner with crack rock with porn on His laptop
What is this, kid? His gifts are infinite
But He’s hit with licks for religious hypocrites
He’s the Light, but being treated like
He’s the seedy type who likes to beat His wife
He’s treated like a rapist, treated like a slanderer
Treated like a racist or maybe a philanderer
Jesus being penalized like He had sin inside
Filled with inner pride while committing genocide
I could write for a billion years and still can’t name
All of the sins placed on the Lamb slain
But know this: the main thing the cross demonstrated
The glory and the holiness of God vindicated

Bridge

Hook

Why would a thrice holy God ever redeem wicked sinful man? What was His motivation?

Welcome Back!

The Ambassador is a founding member of the legendary Christian Hip Hop group “Cross Movement”. Known for his intense lyrical sty-lings mixed with sick delivery, Ambassador is easily an amazing MC. Ambassador graduated from DTS and co-pastored a church plant in Philly a few years ago along side Eric Mason. I have personally benefited greatly from this mans ministry and I’m sure u will to!

“It Was Love” is an amazing song off of Ambassadors first solo CD entitled “Christology: In Laymen’s Terms”. Ambassador sets up the scene that shows our need for the atonement. Now God is Holy. We have sinned against Him. God has absolutely no obligation to save us or forgive us for the wrong we done against Him. So God is completely Holy and we are completely sinful. So why did Jesus come and die for us? What was His motivation? Well, it was love. Love for the father and His justice. And love for us. Jesus loves us so much!

For in this way God loved the world: that he gave the unique son, so that all the ones trusting in him would not perish, but have eternal life. -John 3:16 [Translated from the original greek]

[Hook]
It was love-What made Him bleed and cling to a tree
It was love-Unlike this world has ever seen before
It was love-What made Him bleed and cling to a tree
And get nailed to the form of a lower case “t”

Verse1:
To all my listeners; you’re on my “got to get with ya list”
Scripture gives the run down, come now you’ve got to picture this
The evolutionist would call this ridiculous
Story of a love, a true love that got promiscuous
The true lover was a King they called Elohim,
Digt it, He was exquisite, always existed
For designer clothes He sported shekinah robes
The kind that glows, baggy, you know the kind that flows
He was awesome majestic, flawless, perfect with
All this you might ask what could be next
His outcry zoomed throughout the counsel of the Triune
Crank the volume, when God speaks it’s a fly tune
“Let Us make man in Our likeness and Our image”
He sparked it, even before He started He was finished
And since it’s a fact that every kid needs a nursery
Before He made man He made a universe-a world to be
A playpen you know a place to chill, one to play in
Fields to lay in, earth to rule, one to stay in
He took dust in His hands made a man
Breathed life into his frame, said, “Adam is your name”
It was all fun and games, no pain and no strain,
He named all the animals, they were pre-tamed
Man and his God chillin’ like jellow with
Nothing to undermine the divine fellowship

[Hook]

Verse 2:
Curtain please, scene two, we see the surgery
Adam de-ribbed, now Eve lives, we see with certainty
God wanted the earth to be full so earth can see
God and glory go together like thermometers and mercury
Intertwined, Elohim was man’s date
But it’s a thin line between love and hate
And just like a person will be weary ’til rested
I guess love will always be theory ’til tested,
So check it, God put this tree off limits
He can do that, the earth is the Lord’s and all that’s in it
He meant it, He told Adam the truth about the one tree
He said if you eat the fruit then you’re saying you don’t want me
In other words you’re saying, “Bye”, I wouldn’t lie
‘Cause the day you eat from this tree you’re surely gonna die
Why in God’s name couldn’t Adam maintain
No blame, if it was us we would have probably done the same thing
Satan tricked Eve, Eve gave to Adam,
Sin had them, death grabbed them, and on went the pattern
The earth got cursed on the day they dissed Jehovah
He said, “I told ya, now our relationship is over!”

[Hook]

Verse 3:
It really gets to me, it really is a mystery
Why with foresight God even let us ruin history
But the love story gets deeper
Holiness makes Him hide from sin but His love for men made Him a seeker
My heart is getting weaker, it’s burnin’ me bad
I earnestly ask why in eternity past
Did the Godhead agree that they would let man leave
Knowing the penalty-that they’d have to let man bleed?
But this is just a case of the lowliest
Questioning the infinite wisdom and the justice of the holiest
God’s omnipotent and sovereign-”Yes I know He is”
And he’s gracious and merciful-”The Bible told me this”
Took a human frame, Jesus was His human name
Doomed to hang on a cross cause we’re His lost love
Resurrected just to get with you, if you get your cue
From Scripture you can see he clearly pre-planned the switch-a-roo
He’d always planned to become a man, die as a substitute lamb,
Start a new fam of humans who can
Take the Son’s hand in reply to
His proposal, “Will you marry Me?”-we say, “I do!”

[Ending Hook]

Love-made Him bleed and cling to a tree
It was love-unlike this world has ever seen before
It was love-that made Him bleed and cling to a tree
Nailed just for you and nailed just for me

A celebration of the freedom we have in Christ!

Welcome back to Lyrical Theology Thursday!

This week I will feature a new artist to the series who goes by the name “Sho Baraka”. Sho is another founding member of the 116 clique along side Lecrae, Trip Lee and Tedashii. He is a college graduate originally from Canada. He has recently moved to the ATL in order to plant a new church called “Blueprint Church”, in which he serves as the Creative Director. Sho, being one of my favorite lyricists, brings something very different to Lyrical Theology. He has a unique way of expounding on the scriptures while being distinctly lyrical and/or poetic. This weeks song is called “Justified”. Sho Baraka takes a stab at the book of Galatians. Although its a quick overview, it’s a great job nonetheless. This song is my jam and I love the message of the track. So get ready and BEAR SOME FRUIT!

Introduction to Galatians

Paul’s letter to the Galatians was addressed to a group of churches in Galatia, a region of present-day Turkey. Paul had preached the gospel in these churches. He wrote to counter those who taught that Christians must be circumcised in order to be accepted by God. Paul began with a defense of his apostolic authority (chs. 1–2), then made it clear that all believers, Jew and Gentile alike, enjoy complete salvation in Christ (chs. 3–4). In chapters 5–6 Paul showed how the gospel of grace leads to true freedom and godly living. Perhaps the central message of Galatians is “a person is not justified by works of the law but through faith in Jesus Christ” (2:16). Paul wrote this letter sometime between a.d. 48 and 55.

Hook
They Talk about the Law (They Talk about the Law)
But they twisting the law (But they twisting the law)
the law is a tutor that leads us to Christ (3:24)
by faith justified and he gives us life (2:16)

Bridge 1
Got grace from the father in the Son were new/
Be filled with the spirit and bear some fruit /
Say bear some fruit (Say bear some fruit)
Say bear some fruit (Say bear some fruit)

Verse 1

Let me be clear I not here to please men (1:10)
If I was then I wouldn’t be a servant of him (1:10)
Im shocked how quickly we turn from the real faith (1:6)
they want to discredit my ministry say I real fake
Im like Paul I got called on my way to Damascus
Commissioned by Christ to go preach to the masses
he wasn’t a disciple when Christ took the lashes (1:15-2:14)
since the twelve didnt know him they question his passion (1:15-2:14)
but he preached a gospel that was grace related
not another from the Lord and the Judaizers hate it
false teachers come thru like wolves in disguise (2:4)
and some of my closest boys believe these lies (2:13)
we know those who teach this other gospel is accursed (1:6-9)
and you following these teachings dont benefit the church (3:10-13)
(The Application) not bound to your traditions (4:10)
Free from the law to the spirit Im submitting (2:19)

Hook

Bridge 2

I know I’m dirt I have nothing to prove
but be filled with spirit and bear some fruit
say bear some fruit (say bear some fruit)
say bear some fruit (say bear some fruit)

Verse 2

Why you trying to rebuild what you once destroyed (2:18)
the contracts abolished the laws null and void (3:25)
its no longer I that lives but Christ that lives (2:20)
I no longer have the same priorities you dig
since I understand grace things have changed
If I’m justified by my works then he died in vain (2:21)
cause there is no fury known like the Savior scorned
trying to produce veil after the first was torn
the promise was given before the law ever came (3:14-29)
because there a law doesn’t mean the promise has changed (3:14-29)
but what the law does do is shows we needed a promise (3:14-29)
seed of Abraham to whom we pay homage (3:14-29)
(The Application) if all this is true
how can I go back to the things I used to do (4:9)
you can read more, share more, do more things
but its only thru Christ by which we please the King

Hook

Bridge 3

Sanctified by the word cuz the word is truth
be filled with the spirit and bear some fruit
Say bear some fruit (Say bear some fruit)
Say bear some fruit (Say bear some fruit)

Verse 3
They want justification from the law they’ve fallen from grace (5:4)
they pretty much denied Christ even died in their place
we eagerly await the hope of righteousness by faith (5:5)
by faith fulfill the law with love not hate (5:6,14)
but I hate my flesh, its bad for my health (5:16-21)
gotta serve my community while dying to myself (5:13)
cuz myself is nothing but a thief and a liar (5:21)
but Christ has crucified my passions and desires (5:24)
if I’m trippin in community your boy will hear it
gotta restore that cat with the fruit of the spirit (6:1)
without submitting to the spirit your boy cant grow (5:16)
and trying to do more, we just reap what we so (6:7)
(The application) walk in the spirit in every situation (5:25)
I’m crucified to the world I’m a new creation (6:14)
Just as Christ is the architect to salvation
the spirit is essential to sanctification

Today we are gonna take a quick look at the letter Paul wrote to the Philippians. A great song and even greater lyrics!

Another “13 Letters” project for this weeks LTT. This song is entitled “To live is Christ” and it is a brief overview of the letter to the Philippians.

Introduction to Philippians:

4 chapters, 104 verses. The Philippians were among Paul’s closest friends and most valuable partners in ministry. This church was planted by the apostle himself; the remarkable story of its founding (complete with nighttime visions, riverside conversions, and prison cell earthquakes) is told in Acts 16. The Philippians had been strong supporters of Paul’s missionary work ever since they came to Christ, and their former pastor writes this letter of friendship to thank them for their ongoing assistance. The specific occasion for the letter becomes clear at the end of chapter 2: the Philippians had sent Paul financial support while he was in prison (probably in Rome). Unfortunately, their emissary (a man named Epaphroditus) had come down with a life-threatening illness and was only just now healthy enough to make the return journey to Philippi. Happily, Epaphroditus would return with Paul’s letter in hand—a letter in which the apostle joyfully celebrates his partnership with the Philippians in the gospel and passionately exhorts them to join him in following the example of Jesus Christ in life, in death, and in the life to come.

Trip, your up!

Verse 1:
Brethren listen to this exposition
Paul wrote the Philippians some lessons for living (1:1)
Written to them but its real good text for Christians
So read it closely, I hope we can catch the vision
Chapter 1 he tells them he’s blessed to get them
Co-laboring with him to serve the best who’s risen (1:5, 7)
And that’s he’s confident the Lord will perfect in Christians
What He started and hearts will be corrected in them (1:6)
Listen, he was in prison now maybe never getting out
But all he could think about was the gospel getting out (1:12-14)
Some was even preaching Christ from selfish motives
Coming at Paul but dawg he shrugged his shoulders (1:15-18)
His focus was Christ the Messiah man (1:19)
And for Him “to live is Christ and to die was gain” (1:20,21)
Yeah, he was hard pressed, but to remain in the flesh
Was more necessary so they faith would progress (1:22-24)
He wanted them to strive together for the gospel
In one spirit, one mind, listen to the apostle (1:27)
Maintain the same love, uplift your brothers
Don’t just look out for yourself, but for the interests of others (2:2-4)

Hook:
Our life is nothing, but Christ is all (1:21)
So conduct yourselves worthy of His righteous call (1:27)
(Repeat 4X)

Verse 2:
Chapter 2: Let’s examine five through eleven
The blessed lamb who resided in the Heavens (2:6)
Said forget the wealth and emptied Himself
Came as a man and died for the brethren (2:7,8)
Ultimate obedience, he died on the cross and (2:8)
Through His humility Christ was exalted (2:9)
Glory to the Father (2:11), now we should have
That same attitude Christ Jesus had (2:5)
And on to verse twelve work out your salvation (2:12)
The Father works in us in this process of saving (2:13)
Avoid dispute and prove yourself blameless
Children of God in a perverse generation (2:14,15)
Cling to the bible, humility is vital
We see it in lives of Paul and his disciples (2:17-30)
Serving him like father (2:22), some fellow soldiers (2:25)
Let us rejoice, unite, and rep Jehovah

Hook

Verse 3:
Chapter 3: rejoice in the Lord we serve (3:1)
And forget about the flesh we nothing more than dirt (3:3)
Man if anyone could brag bout they status it was Paul
But to him it was trash it and he counted it as lost
For the sake of the Christ, ’cause He gave us life (3:4-7)
Not through anything we did but through faith in Christ (3:9)
We righteous in the eyes of the Lord’s that’s blessing
Conformed to His death and His resurrection (3:9-10)
Brethren, I don’t claim to have attained perfection’s
What he said but was reaching to what lies ahead (3:12-13)
And encouraged the Philippians to model what he said (3:15)
And not to walk in the flesh cause that walk is dead (3:17-19)
But we citizens of Heaven who eagerly wait for
The one that we rest in Jesus our Savior (3:20)
That’s who the Lord is and He will surely
Transform our bodies in future glory (3:21)

Hook

Verse 4:
Chapter 4: he closes encouraging with words
In unity and harmony for those within the church (4:1-3)
Rejoice in the Lord, bro our hopes in Him first (4:4)
Let our thanks and our problems be known to Him first (4:6)
Embrace the peace of God, you can bet on that (4:7)
And whatever is good let your mind dwell on that (4:8)
Then he thanked them again, for they gifts and concern (4:10)
But no matter what to be content he had learned (4:11-12)
Plus he was sure that he could do all things
Through Him who gave strength and can do all things (4:13)
And he told them they did well sharing through all pain (4:14)
And made sure they knew he sure he wasn’t trying to get more change (4:15-18)
God will supply all they needs he hoped they might see this
According to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus (4:19)
The truth of Philippians I hope it hit you
And may the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with you (4:23)
I hope you like what you heard with me rapping these verses
But don’t get it twisted, we just scratching the surface
There’s more to be learned than this rap is saying
So read it, live it, learn it like the back of your hand

Hook

For whom did Jesus die? Did He die for everyone or just some?

For whom did Jesus die? This is a question that the Church has debated for many years. Did Jesus die for the entire world (every single person)? Or did Jesus die for only those who would believe in Him? Some questions to ponder:

If Jesus died for only those who He knew would believe in Him, than He didn’t die for those who are in hell or still yet to go? Is this Biblical?

If Jesus DID die for the entire world (every single person), than why is there ANYone in hell?

If Jesus DID die for the entire world, with so many in Hell, should we say He failed?

If Jesus DID die for the entire world and every sin, than why isn’t unbelief covered in this “Unlimited Atonement”?

Shai Linne will attempt to speak on these issue in this weeks LTT. I think he does a pretty good job.

Thoughts?

Verse 1

Here’s a controversial subject that tends to divide

For years it’s had Christians lining up on both sides

By God’s grace, I’ll address this without pride

The question concerns those for whom Christ died

Was He trying to save everybody worldwide?

Was He trying to make the entire world His Bride?

Does man’s unbelief keep the Savior’s hands tied?

Biblically, each of these must be denied

It’s true, Jesus gave up His life for His Bride

But His Bride is the elect, to whom His death is applied

If on judgment day, you see that you can’t hide

And because of your sin, God’s wrath on you abides

And hell is the place you eternally reside

That means your wrath from God hasn’t been satisfied

But we believe His mission was accomplished when He died

But how the cross relates to those in hell?

Well, they be saying:

Lord knows He tried (8x)

Verse 2

Father, Son and Spirit: three and yet one

Working as a unit to get things done

Our salvation began in eternity past

God certainly has to bring all His purpose to pass

A triune, eternal bond no one could ever sever

When it comes to the church, peep how they work together

The Father foreknew first, the Son came to earth

To die- the Holy Spirit gives the new birth

The Father elects them, the Son pays their debt and protects them

The Spirit is the One who resurrects them

The Father chooses them, the Son gets bruised for them

The Spirit renews them and produces fruit in them

Everybody’s not elect, the Father decides

And it’s only the elect in whom the Spirit resides

The Father and the Spirit- completely unified

But when it comes to Christ and those in hell?

Well, they be saying:

Lord knows He tried (8x)

Verse 3

My third and final verse- here’s the situation

Just a couple more things for your consideration

If saving everybody was why Christ came in history

With so many in hell, we’d have to say He failed miserably

So many think He only came to make it possible

Let’s follow this solution to a conclusion that’s logical

What about those who were already in the grave?

The Old Testament wicked- condemned as depraved

Did He die for them? C’mon, behave

But worst of all, you’re saying the cross by itself doesn’t save

That we must do something to give the cross its power

That means, at the end of the day, the glory’s ours

That man-centered thinking is not recommended

The cross will save all for whom it was intended

Because for the elect, God’s wrath was satisfied

But still, when it comes to those in hell

Well, they be saying:

Lord knows He tried (8x)

Reach Records, with artists such as Lecrae; Tedashii; Trip Lee and Sho Baraka, set out to do this amazing project about a year or so ago. They decided to take this term that Shai Linne coined and maximize it. This term of course is “Lyrical Theology”. They made this wonderful record called “13 Letters”. The record covers all 13 of Paul’s epistles to the church, in hip hop form. You have one artist covering each epistle by himself. Truly a great use of the talents that God has given to His church. You can learn more about Reach at www.reachrecords.com.

Trip Lee is a young dude from Texas who was discipled under Lecrae. Now living in Philly in his senior year of Bible college, he himself coined a term simply said “Young and Unashamed”. I think it speaks for itself. Trip covers the letter that Paul wrote to Titus in his own unique style.

Verse 1:
Lets take a look at the letter Paul wrote to Titus, yea we bout to dive in,
I hope you’r exited (c’,mon)
fo sho it’s inspired lets go and aply it,
arrive at conclusions useful to giving
Christ the glories that he deserves,
the stories is in his word
Titus is all about giving glory at his church from Paul
. . . a bonservant to Titus . . .They both serving
Both serving Christ with their life with the must urgence,
Titus was his disciple he him in Crete, Why?
To keep the church in order, his lessons complete . . .
With rules about elders fools who need helpand,
jews who do fail stay tunes to see what he tells us,
it may seem far from us, just irrelevent text
“What if we not pastors?” (”but just rest for a second”) “ok”
I promise I’ll bring it home, let’s invest in the text (c *mon)
I’m about to hit you with the hook
I be addressing it next.

Hook:
Let’s be sound in faith,
the doctrine in speech plus deeds rep.
Jesus the king, let him lead us please plus
we see he told us how we must be less ,
read and trust Jesus who freed us

please in our faith the doctrine’s is speech
plus deeds rep Jesus the king let him lead us
please plus we see he told us how we must be
less we dun trust Jesus who freed us please

Verse 2:
Paul told them elders need to be above approach
with love and hope and livin in all the stuff he spoke,
but then there are those who wear the clothes of elders
but bear the woes of false teachers not speaking truth.
so don’t select those, correct those men(correct ‘em)
and defy’em they tryin’
they say they know God , but by they deeds they deny’ em.
1:5-9 are the type of cats we wanna pick,
for leadership within the church them other cats
we’ pose to fix
but hold up, don’t tune me out
I hope that you endure and see
that these things are really marks of a mature believer
we can see that and apply it to our own livin,
instead of sinnin trippin and livin with no vision,
don’t miss the catch too (really?)
it adresses me and you and everybody
with some lessons we can use
se read it all and pick the parts that seem to be to you
Live out the sound doctrine, let people see the fruit.

Verse 3:
(YEA) Let be blameless and show consideration for man
(why?) cuz we was just like them before he saved us within(ok!)
It wasn’t strange we had rage and hatred for man, (man)
disobedient deceased and enslaved to our sin (slaved)
But he saved us, not on the basis of man,
but thanks to his mercy regeneration begins,
Poured out his holy spirit man he placed it within,
justified by grace thats so amazing for man,
if we see this, believe this we saved and freed.
We say “Jesus lead us to engage in deeds
forget foolish controversy and stay in sync
with he who saved us, and raised us his name is sweet.
(c’mon) I pray that as the body of Christ we model this life,
and reference the book of Titus to follow him right,
and we’re an accurate reflects and as his beautiful church,
and let us rep him with our words and our beautiful work.

A concise look at the reformation teaching of Sola Scriptura.

Sola Scriptura (Scripture Alone) is the teaching that Scripture is the Church’s only infallible and sufficient rule for deciding issues of faith and practices that involve doctrines. While the Bible does not contain all knowledge, it does contain that which is necessary for salvation. Indeed, if something is not found in Scripture, it is not binding upon the believer. This view does not deny that the Church has the authority to teach God’s Word. Furthermore, while tradition is valuable, it but must be tested by the higher authority of the Scriptures

Flame is an artist on Cross Movement Records (CMR). Flame is one of my favorite MCs. As he finds a unique way to present deep theological truths while staying current with the sound in modern hip hop. Flame resides in St. Louis and is currently attending Boyce College (the undergrad program at Southern Seminary) Flame will now take a stab at Sola Scriptura.

Verse 1:
Lately man its been some problems
the scriptures have been under attack and that’s crazy
see God’s word is the final authority I’m sorry there’s no way you can sway can’t persuade me
the holy scriptures is the only sufficient certain and infallible rule for the Christian
nothing can be added at all
so you can keep your revelation and religious traditions
the-op-nyoo-stos (theopneustus) its God breathed
2 Timothy 3:16
because the scriptures are the only example of God breathed revelation in possession of the church
they form the only infallible rule of faith for and which we base the church/ let’s talk about inspiration
God’s the author no mistaken man

Hook:
Let me hear ya say yeah (yeah) REPEAT
(S-O-L-A SCRIPTURA) REPEAT
it’s the Bible man B-i-b-l-e

Verse 2:
People pick pick and choose
what they will and won’t use from the holy scriptures
but the Bible is not just a book that you can just look through and see what fits ya
naw dawg it’s tota scriptura/ all of scripture/ was told by John Calvin
so if you LDS Jehovah’s Witness or if you Roman Catholic
please don’t insert your own authority in place of the scriptures that’s backwards
the scriptures are perfect and they are able to guide the people of God into the truth God
1689 Baptist Confession is my point of reference in which I use for ya’ll
how I’m talkin’ about sola scriptura but I’m using the confession I’m confusin’ ya’ll nope!

When someone teaches a "truth" that they say is from God's word, do we test it? Do we truly live out Acts 17:11?

When someone teaches a “truth” that they say is from God’s word, do we test it? Do we truly live out Acts 17:11?

This is the issue that this weeks artist will discuss. Stephen the Levite is another very gifted artist from Lampmode records. (on a side note, I am not trying to only focus on Lampmode artists. It’s just the way it’s gone. lol) Originally from California, Stephen moved to Philly a few years ago and has played a part in the church plant Epiphany Fellowship. Stephen has a passion for Jesus and sound doctrine.

Christians, get out your whistles. And LETS GO!

Stephen the Levite
Whats your proof:

Can you imagine the reaction
of seein lightning without hearin thunder clappin
ayo its kinda like a tree that casts no shadow
or light comin out through a black hole
its impossible right
like Gods truth without proof, the words that the prophets write
no contradictions, all predictions
came to pass in the pass provin the future ones non-fiction
God makes faith solid
its not a blind leap, its an anchor attached to a rock, its
God promise on top of an oath
the evidence of the things unseen the substance of hope
provable and immutable
absolute truth as usual its still irrefutable
Gods perspective the true objective
no other document should be as highly respected
in a world of opinions
skepticism, false doctrine and lots of religions
Gods givin the Christian
the sword to make division between fact and fiction
spiritual wisdom, placed in a judges position
held accountable for decisions
its kinda like the great commission
authority passes by faith when the Spirit is given
call it inherited discernment
the reason the heathens read it but they still cant learn it
the word of God is hard to learn
but a lot harder when you dont know the author
If you do then its cool listen to
what I spit you, theres two points to the issue
judge wisely when cats come at you and be ready when cats ask you…

Hook:
Why should I believe you?
how do I know what you preach is true?
can you prove that you speak the truth
is your leader misleading you?
or do you follow your heart like the rest of the heathens do?
whats you proof? Christian hold your whistle (hold your whistle)
blow it when you know its not official (not official)
Gods word and authority are the issue (the issue)
if God said it, than hell prove its true, yo

By His Spirit we have liberty
to behold as in a glass openly Gods glory
and we grow in maturity
takin responsibility, preachin in His authority
cause if we teach Gods law but God isnt mentioned
the listener will think its opinion
then one of two things happen
do you remember the first half of the hook that I was rappin
Well thats one of em cause your argument means nothin
until you can prove it with somethin
number two is, self righteousness
through obedience, the dead works of the religious
heads gotta know God said so then serve Him
not just be a good person
the heathens cant please Him by goin through the motions when they dont believe Him
Next subject, some heads like to do the opposite
sayin “God said…” when He didnt
its what we call a false prophet
the type Deuteronomy 13 says to throw rocks at
But now-a-days theres grace and
they can repent, or wait for Gods condemnation
And like I said before, theres a way to make sure
its a prophet or, impersonator
the word had to come to pass
plus line up with the Word of God preached in the past
miracles might confirm it
but false prophets did miracles too, you really cant discern with it
So were left with the text
the scriptures with which we put prophets to the test
So if you like to come at dudes
and you speak truth, then respect when they ask you…

Hook

Yo, I aint done yet, but I will be
when I give proof so I dont speak hypocritically
A lot of yall should be askin “wheres your proof? Where did you say that you get your facts from?” You want proof read Hebrews 5, 6, and 11
and do a lot of cross reference
that proves about half of the first verse
that was simple, the next half gets worse
2nd Timothy 3:16 plus
2nd Peter 1:19 still not enough
1st Corinthians 2:10-16
Psalm 82
then Matthew, last chapter
verse 18-20, next 17: 11 in Acts bruh
Peter 3:15, its the first one
with that we can consider the first verse done
So lets go to the next one
2nd Corinthians 3:16 through 4:7
then heres a little bit of trivia
Psalm 118:8 the middle verse of the scripture(s)
then go back to, Hebrews 11:6
and Deuteronomy, I already mentioned it
chapter 13 in case you forgot
1st Thessalonians 5:21, done Ak
If you think that Im wrong
or I left something out hit me up at LampMode.com
Ive been wrong before, and Im sure
its not the last time, theres going to be many more
So Im pleased when Im seein
cats who reason, from the text, gettin checked by Bereans
So I should be happy
when I step off stage and cats ask me…

Hook
