What happens after all the hype has died down and your left with you and your Bible?
Are we just supposed to accept everything that is said because the person who says it claims to be a Christian?
This jam comes from Thrice’s newest album “Beggars”. It’s about a man who is nearing/at the end of his life, and is looking back on all that he has done. He sees that he’s never really done anything too bad (murder/steal), and that he seems to have always looked out for his own best interests. He’s a pretty good guy. But then realizes that when he’s gone, none of it really mattered, that it was all in vain.
“For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.” -Ephesians 2:8-9
I have wasted many years of my life…
Anathallo, a greek word meaning “to renew, refresh, or bloom again”. This song is about a man who has reached the end of his rope, deep in his sin, and realizes his need for God.
If anyone should ask me what I mean by a Calvinist, I should reply, “He is one who says, Salvation is of the Lord.“
I think this may be my first post actually addressing regeneration. And it’s done by one of my favorite bands, the high-energy, vocally-overwhelming, lyrically-enlivened…Future of Forestry. This song is talking about an unbeliever, as the Holy Spirit works and gives them life and a new heart.
“For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures…” – 1 Cor. 15:3,4
The Gospel of Jesus Christ is summed up in [...]
“Though repentance is the act of man—yet it is the gift of God. It requires the same power to melt the heart—as to make it.”
Here’s the deal:
Tom Ascol of Founders Ministries received a memo. It’s a little hard to believe, but, it is real.
It’s a ‘memo’ designed to reveal Calvinists pastors in your midst. Wouldn’t that be a tragedy? All joking aside, this really is sad. Those proclaiming to be promoting the Gospel are looking to ‘snuff’ those who [...]

“Justification is a judicial act of God pardoning sinners, accepting them as just, and so putting permanently right their previously estranged relationship with himself…”

For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. -Romans 1:16

Parables have a very important meaning. Which indicates to us that we should work hard to understand them.

You should not believe your conscience and your feelings more than the word which the Lord who receives sinners preaches to you. -Martin Luther
